Here are some website resources that you may find of interest or that might assist you in planning your self-catering cottage holiday in Northumberland.
- Belford - local village with all amenties
Belford is about a 10/15 minute drive from us. It has a Co-op (open 7am-10pm), 4 pubs, the excellent John Dory fish and chip shop (open Thursday, Friday, Saturday - other days in summer, tel: 01668 213161), Well House Coffee shop and Sunnyhills Farm shop.
- Catering in your cottage - Craster Kippers
Mmm, you can't visit us without having a proper northumbrian Craster kipper for your breakfast on at least one morning! Robsons have been smoking kippers for generations in Craster. You can visit the shop above the little harbour to buy in person (they also have a wet fish counter), plus they also mail nationwide. Craster is also the starting point for the walk to Dunstanburgh Castle and just opposite the shop is the Jolly Fisherman pub that serves locally renowned crab sandwiches.
- Catering in your cottage - Swallowfish
One of the last remaining smokehouses in Seahouses, Swallow Fish sells fantastic home smoked kippers and cod and a great range of wetfish, plus local lobster, mussels in season and Lindisfarne (pacific) oysters all year round.
- Catering in your cottage - Bamburgh butcher
Where to go if you want a proper sausage! Plus everything else you'd expect from a fine local butcher's shop that's been in the family for over 100 years, including home cured bacon, home made haggis and freshly baked bread every day. R Carter and Son - they call themselves The Bamburgh Banger on their website and you'll find them at 2 Front Street, Bamburgh.

Find out when the nearest markets (Alnwick and Berwick) will be on during your holiday.
- Catering in your cottage - Heatherslaw bakery
When visiting the lovely Ford and Etal estate make a point of visiting the Heatherslaw Mill Gift shop and see their array of home baked biscuits, cake and bread made on the premises at the mill - they sell their own range of flours too (nb - it is not possible to visit inside the mill itself as it is a fully operational mill and bakery).
- Catering in your cottage - Julian's Veg
Julian offers a home delivery service of local vegetables, dairy products and bread. Call him to arrange a suitable delivery day.
- Catering in your cottage - Lindisfarne Oysters
The Lindisfarne Oyster beds can be seen from the cottages with our binoculars. It is just a short drive to Ross Farm where you can buy in person (please ring first), alternatively they can be found at Swallow Food fish shop in Seahouses. Usually available all year round, mail order service available.
- Catering in your cottage - Supermarkets
Berwick (15 minutes north) has a Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Asda, Morrison & Aldi.
Alnwick (20 mintues south) has a Sainsbury's and Morrisons.
Asda Tweedmouth will deliver to the cottages.

Neil and Mary of Wilkins Fine Dining are happy to discuss your requirements for producing your own dinner party, lunch, supper, informal buffet, canapés or any special occasion meal in the comfort of your own cottage. - Farm Shop - Sunnyhills Belford
Just a short drive away in Belford, Sunnyhills has a bistro, ice cream parlour and a good foodhall with a cheese and butchery counter.. There's also a small children's play area and some animals including llamas.
- Farm Shop/Restaurant - Berwick Garden Centre
Berwick Garden Centre has a good farm shop (including ready meals) , coffee shop and a restaurant offering home cooked food.
